An Intro. . .

Hello, I'm Anna Carpenter. I've been trying to figure out this whole blogging thing for over three years and it still hasn't stuck. This time, however, seems to be a little bit different: I have a game plan, a theme, if you will. Now, if any of you have read my profile description (over to the right), you probably know that I'm a complete nerd when it comes to school. I've never even been to a non-birthday party throughout my three years in high school, which I'm perfectly comfortable with (because I'll get an A on my next test to make them wish they weren't out ignoring the heavy hand of education! That's why). Anyway, due to my school/higher education-geared mind, my imagination gave life to an incredible blog idea: How I've spent my years preparing for the afterlife of high school (college).

"Wow. Neat-o, Anna. When does it get interesting." Okay, so if that's not your cup of tea I get it. Even my parents have to stop my college-talk. I simply want to provide some sort of a resource to those of you out there worrying about college prep, whether you're 12 or 20 (or even a parent!). I know that I would've liked a thorough layout of what to do to prepare for university applications and education. Granted, I haven't been accepted nor denied to any of my chosen schools yet (it's only July, silly), so I'm not sure that my methods have even been successful for myself, but I do know that I've given it my all in high school and that you (or your child) should too. If you try your best and do everything in your power to make yourself a strong, hardworking student, you should have no regrets. Easier said than done, yes, but you'll definitely have fewer regrets than those who took blow-off classes and don't end up where they want to be, right? Surely.

In closing, I just want to add that I really hope that this blog actually helps some of you. When admissions decisions are released, I plan on posting my essays to provide either an example of what worked or what didn't, and I hope to advise you much sooner on my high school course load suggestions, extracurricular ideas, and little snippets of info I've learned over the past five-or-so years of college research. Therefore, I really want you to check in every once in a while to see what I have to say! You may benefit from it, so why on Earth wouldn't you? :)

Hope your July 4th was enjoyable. . . I'll get my AP scores today!

-Anna

P.S. I suppose you may be wondering why my blog is "The Annalytical," huh. Well, it's from a quote I coined in my UChicago essay: "I'm too analytical for my own good," which the cold, hard truth. I have dreams that reach far past the stars, but I'm too logical to actively pursue them, therefore I'm stuck in a realm of mundane reality. I hope I can muster up the courage to fully achieve those goals of mine, but until then, I am none other than The Annalytical.
